Not Receiving SMS from New Numbers

Text messages from "new" contacts are not being forwarded to gvmax, but I am still receiving text messages from individuals who have contacted me in the past and therefore have an entry in my gchat list.

I appreciate any help that you can offer me.

What gtalk clients are you using? Do you have more than one client on at the same time?

I am only using Pidgin, no other clients are logged in.
